Most change efforts don't fail because the idea was wrong. They fail because no one built the route from the idea to the people who had to live with it.
Brown Change Management Consulting grew out of years spent inside real transformation programs — the kind with tight deadlines, nervous stakeholders, and plans that looked perfect on paper until they met actual teams.
Out of that work came a simple observation: the organisations that made change stick weren't the ones with the fanciest slide decks. They were the ones who understood what the people affected actually needed, planned for it properly, and treated making the change stick as real work — not an afterthought.
That observation shapes everything BCMC does. Our approach is grounded in practical experience and a deep understanding of what it takes to turn a well-designed project into successful, sustainable adoption. It's the foundation of every consulting engagement and every keynote, and it's built to give leaders a clear route through change without having to learn it the hard way first.
That route became the Define–Plan–Execute–Embed (DPEE) model. It wasn't designed in the abstract. It was built from experience on real change programs, trialled on live projects, and tested and refined each time it met real deadlines, real constraints, and real people. Every phase is there because skipping it is where change efforts tend to come unstuck.
- DefineDefine the change goal. Analyse the current and future state, understand the gap, and determine the impacted stakeholders, change vision, effort, and strategy.
- PlanDetermine impact and plan the transition. Brief stakeholders, nominate change champions, facilitate impact assessments, and develop the change plan covering comms, training, and readiness.
- ExecuteExecute the activities that drive the change. Conduct business readiness activities, manage and mitigate risks, and document handover and transition plans.
- EmbedSupport stakeholders to embed sustainable change. Execute handover, issue outstanding communications, and discover the outcomes and benefits of the change.
Today, BCMC uses the DPEE model to help leaders and organisations navigate change across a range of contexts, including enterprise transformation, organisational restructures, system and technology rollouts, mergers and integrations, and culture and ways-of-working change.
